Running a Call for Candidates
Step 1: Define the Group-Specific Qualifications for the Roles
The Acting Chair and/or Vice-chair of a new group, or current Chair and/or Vice-chair in conjunction with the group members should discuss, document, and review the list of domain specific skills they want in their next chair or vice-chair.
General leadership skill can be found in the Call for Candidate Template.
Step 2: Draft the Call for Candidates Text
Input the group-specific qualification into the Call for Candidate Template. Add additional items as necessary. Review with the group via the mailing list.
The call should remain open for 2 weeks. It may be longer if holidays or other special events occur. Please send an email to help@riscv.org if you feel the call should be longer than 2 weeks.
Step 3: Announce the Call for Candidates
Send the announcement text to the following places:
tech-announce@lists.riscv.org (which is moderated and may not show up immediately)
The Governing Committee mailing list
Any Dotted-line Committee mailing lists
The group mailing list
Step 4: Elect the New Chairs
Once the call has closed, the RISC-V Staff will help run the vote with the Voting Members of the group. Typically, this election will start within 1 week of the call closure. If you have not see the vote announced on the group mailing list or heard from a RISC-V Staff member, please send an email to help@riscv.org asking for assistance with the vote.
Once the vote has completed, the RISC-V Staff will announce the vote results to the group, on the group mailing list.
